From the desk of our Pastoral Associate Kenny
I hope everyone is keeping well. Many thanks for all the feedback and interest in the Family Groups launch last weekend. We will be having a gathering straight after 9:45am Mass TODAY in the Seed Room at Our Lady, Star of The Sea and then after 11:15am Mass at St Thomas’. This is to watch a short DVD about Family Groups and for Chris and Vince to say a few words. Also, our next Liturgy Group meeting will be on Wednesday 10th April at 8pm in the Seed Room. Please come along to talk about hymns and other aspects of Liturgy.

Resurrection Candles
We will again seek to light up our Churches in Easter Week with candles dedicated to our loved ones who we wish to offer special prayers for this Easter. These 7 day candles can be lit for all our loved ones both alive and dead as a sign of our prayers for them during the great feast of Easter.
THE FINAL DATE FOR SUBMITTING INTENTIONS FOR A CANDLE WILL BE THE 14TH APRIL. Forms available at the back of Church. Please include donation of £5 per candle requested.

The cost for enrolment in the Mass Association and Card is £7.50. To enrol and purchase a card, please fill in a Mass Association slip and place in envelop with donation. Holy Mass and prayers will be offered for all people enrolled in the Mass Association once a month for 12 months.
There will also be special remembrances for the Mass Association at Christmas, Easter and on the Feast Days of St Thomas of Canterbury & Our Lady Star of the Sea.

Your J&P group warmly invite you to an illustrated talk in St Helen’s Parish Centre, Islington entrance, on Thursday, April 11th, on a recent visit to the Holy Land. It seems an ideal opportunity to see/hear more about life today in Christ’s own land when we are about to send off our own Easter greetings to our fellow Christians over there. The talk will begin after the 7.00pm Mass, at approximately 7.30, but the Parish Centre will be open from 7.00pm

FOODBANK: The foodbanks are running low on supplies and would be grateful for any help you can give.

Lady or Sacred Heart Altar Lamps at Star will only be lit when intentions have been requested.
OLSS: Sanctuary: The Leaders of our country
SToC: Sanctuary: The homeless

ALTAR WINE/BREADS: Parishioners are invited to make a donation of £10 for altar wine/breads in memory of a loved one. Please place your donation in an envelope with the intention and Church and place it on the collection plate or drop it off at the parish office.
OLSS: Apr: McEvoy & McLennan families May: John & Norah Latham
SToC: Apr: Stephen Prior

The contact details for parishes in the Holy Land are available this week-end, a little later than usual, but we hope that your response will be no less enthusiastic. We have sent over 2,000 cards from our Pastoral Area in past years and we know that they are really well received as a measure of our support in the difficult climate in which parishes are struggling today.
Please remember to return your cards to the back of church so that the Justice and Peace Group can post them off to the Latin Patriarchate which will ensure that they reach their destination. Feel free to include your own address, if you wish, and there are greetings in Arabic for you to enclose with your cards. Thank-you.

Father, we thank you for the love you have shown us
in the gift of Jesus, your Son.
We thank you for the gift of the Church,
through which you show us that you are always with us
and are always at work in our lives.
As we journey together to Synod 2020
help us to become the Church
that you are calling us to be.
May your Holy Spirit be powerfully at work among us.
Strengthen each of us
and guide Francis, our Pope,
and Malcolm, our Archbishop.
Help us to respond
to the challenges of our times in new ways
to bring your love to all our sisters and brothers.
We make this prayer through Jesus Christ Our Lord. AMEN
