This week has been special for me as we started our joint parish RCIA “Journey Of Faith” on Monday. It was such a warm and welcoming group of people coming together to learn more about the Catholic Faith and Catholic teachings. We meet every Monday, please see the Journey of Faith leaflets at the back of church if you want to be on the journey with us. On Tuesday I was in Wrightington to come together with the people on the Pastoral Leadership Diploma course. It was such a lovely occasion as we all looked at different ways we can work with scripture to listen to the God who speaks. Spreading Gods word. And it was great to see all the Year 4 children at the Commitment Mass celebrations last week, who are preparing for First Holy Communion next year. Just a quick note to say there is a workshop happening called “Attracting & Sustaining Volunteers”, with Nugent Care Monday, 7 October at St John Stone Hall, 7 Sandbrook Rd, Southport PR8 3RN from 10am-noon. I’ll be going if anyone wants to join me there.

Caring for Our Common Home – Creation Time – 1st. Sept – 4th. Oct.
In Laudato Si (para. 10) Pope Francis writes, ” How inseparable the bond is between concern for nature, justice for the poor, commitment to society and interior peace.” Scientists are warning that climate change is making disasters such as Cyclone Idai, which hit Mozambique this year, more frequent and severe. In 2017, 18.8 million people fled their homes because of such disasters. Some of them will become “climate refugees”, unable to return home because of permanent changes in their environment.
ACTION. It may seem that we have plenty of water in the UK.- but it takes electricity to pump and clean it before it comes through our taps, all adding to CO2 emissions. How much can you cut back on waste of water? (See tips on unitedutilities.com).
