If you have not been able to come to one of our Parish Proposal meetings, please engage with the Prayer station in our Churches, to enable us to pray and discern as small groups or individually, about what ‘proposals for action’ we believe the Holy Spirit is calling the Church in our Archdiocese to look at and we want our Parish to send forward to the next step in the discernment process.
Second Synod Talk: Faith & Theology in Later Life
Speaker: Dr Ros Stuart-Buttle: Hope Chapel Mon 11th Nov 7.30pm. Tea and Coffee from 7pm.
The listening process surfaced many different voices of those in later life. Ros will help people to see how we can look at the past, live in the present and gaze into the future. To be hopeful in changing times and how we can try and navigate faith issues with children and grandchildren. All, of whatever age, are very welcome!
There will be an opportunity for questions and answers and optional Night Prayer at 9pm. Hope University L16 9JD.

As we continue our Synod Journey there are a series of seven, stand alone, talks that will help us to better understand some of the pressing concerns of the Church and society as we continue to discern the Church that God is calling us to be. All are welcome for what promises to be an inspirational and enriching series.

Location: The talks are hosted by Liverpool Hope University and take place in Hope Chapel – entrance by Chapel or Gateway Building.
November Memorial Mass
November is traditionally a time when we remember those who have died, pray for them and give thanks for how they blessed our lives with theirs. On Thursday 14th November at 7:00pm we will have a Parish Memorial Mass at St Thomas’ Church to remember all those who have died this year and give thanks for their lives.
PARISH MASS ASSOCIATION
The cost for enrolment in the Mass Association and Card is £7.50. To enrol and purchase a card, please fill in a Mass Association slip and place in envelop with donation.
Holy Mass and prayers will be offered for all people enrolled in the Mass Association once a month for 12 months. There will also be special remembrances for the Mass Association at Christmas, Easter and on the Feast Days of St Thomas of Canterbury & Our Lady Star of the Sea. They are available in both repositories and sacristies, as well as in the office.
The next meeting of St Thomas’s Family group will be a DVD/Film afternoon in the Canterbury Room starting at 12 noon on Saturday 9th November.
Bring the children/grandchildren along to enjoy a selection of child-friendly DVDs. Bring your own snacks, juice will be provided.
Raffle tickets for the annual UCM Grand Christmas Draw, will be on sale from next weekend. Tickets are £1 each and will available after each mass. 1st prize £50, 2nd prize Luxury Food Hamper, plus various other prizes.
Pious List: Sheets are available at the back of the church this week. Please make sure donations are put in an envelope marked pious list. There will be a box on the sanctuary in front of the Altar in which you can place your lists and envelopes
Liverpool Maritime Centre need some 500 shoeboxes to distribute to visiting seafarers this Christmas and would ask if parishioners are willing to fill a shoebox with warm hats, gloves and socks together with toiletries such as toothpaste, deodorant and shower gel. A treat such as chocolate or sweets would be welcome. A personal Christmas Card is also appreciated with the seamen being so far from home at Christmas. They can be brought to the parish and left in the box at the back of the church between now and mid December

RCIA/Journey in Faith 2019/2020
On the 30th September we started our RCIA sessions at Our Lady, Star of the Sea at 7pm. This is a homely course for those who wish to become Catholics or for Catholics who wish to learn more about their faith. Our journey will continue from 4th November at St Edmund of Canterbury Church.

An Invitation to “Space To Be Service” which will take place at 12 noon on Saturday 23rd November 2019 (International Survivors of Suicide Loss day) in St Matthew’s RC Church, 19 Townsend Avenue, Liverpool, L13 9DL. The service is open to people of all religions and none; and whilst it is open to everyone, we particularly welcome those bereaved by suicide as well as those who are or have been suicidal. The hour-long service will include testimonies from Fr Conor Stainton-Polland and 4 guest speakers. There will be quiet periods of reflection, music, and a dance performance. We would encourage you to stay for refreshments, which will be served afterwards.
